Burträsk is conveniently situated just 40 km south of Skellefteå. The community has long been known for its beautiful surroundings and creative spirit. Singer-songwriter Cornelis Vreeswijk lived in the area for a short period, and it was here that, according to legend, the world-famous Västerbottensost cheese was created by “accident”. The old hiking trail Kyrkstigen, which winds between Burträsk and Skellefteå Country Church, is an important part of the district’s history.
