Skebo offers student accommodations in three areas in Skellefteå. Whether you choose to live in Älvsbacka or Sörböle, you’ll be within walking distance of both the campus and the city center. The student rooms come furnished, and broadband, heating, and water are included in the affordable monthly rent. Welcome to an enjoyable study period!
Our student areas
Staregatan, Älvsbacka: 27 rooms, each measuring 20-22 square meters, with a shared kitchen. Private toilets with showers are also included.
Villagatan, Sunnanå/Sörböle: 57 rooms measuring 23 square meters, with a shared kitchen. 16 rooms measuring 26 square meters with private pantries. Each room has private toilets with showers.
Campusområdet, Laboratorgränd, Sunnanå/Sörböle: Temporary student rooms on the Campus area. There are 220 rooms, each approximately 10 square meters in size. They come with a shared kitchen and private toilets with showers
How to book student rooms
- Create a User Account on “Mina sidor” (My Pages) at skebo.se:
Start by creating a user account on the Skebo website. This will give you access to manage your student housing preferences. - Register Your Interest for a Student Apartment:
Next, register your interest for a student apartment. Let Skebo know that you’re looking for housing as a student. - Upload Your Admission Letter or Proof of Enrollment:
Under the “Ladda upp dokument” (Upload Documents) section, upload your admission letter or proof of enrollment. - Book a Student Room:
Once you’ve completed the previous steps, you can book a student room. Click on “Anmäl intresse” (Express Interest) for the room you prefer. Remember that you can only book one room.
Student rooms are typically published on Tuesdays (around 5:00 AM). At the moment, no student rooms are being published. Student rooms with move-in dates for the autumn term of 2024 will begin to be published in mid-summer (exact date not yet determined). - Confirmation and Contact:
After booking a student room, it will be removed from the website, and Skebo will get in touch with you.
To be eligible for renting a student room, you must meet the housing guarantee criteria described further down on this page. - Key Pickup:

Student Housing Regulations
BoDirekt Allocation:
Student rooms are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Your queue points remain intact even after you secure a student room. These points can be used for permanent apartments later in life, provided you keep your user account active and log in to “Mina sidor” (My Pages) at least once every 12 months.
Eligibility Criteria:
To rent a student room, you must be enrolled at Campus Skellefteå’s university or accepted into other post-secondary education programs (such as vocational colleges). The program should be at least 18 weeks long and equivalent to at least half-time studies.
You’ll need to submit your admission letter to Skebo.
Notice Period and Room Changes:
The notice period for student rooms is 2 months.
You can request a room change earliest 3 months after the contract date.
If you’re not continuing your studies in Skellefteå in the fall, make sure to terminate your lease before summer to allow new students a chance at housing.
Unauthorized subletting will result in immediate termination.

Key pickup for Skebo’s student apartments is available during office hours (Monday to Friday) at the main office located at Skeppargatan 8.

Wednesday, drop-in between 10-15 (closed for lunch 11.30-12.30).
Note! You must register for student housing at least 30 days before arriving in Skellefteå.
The tenant commits to terminating the room immediately after completing their studies, with a notice period of two months.

Live like a student
Our student accommodations are specifically designed for students.
The rent is divided into 12 months, similar to regular apartments, but with a two-month notice period. The annual rent adjustment for student accommodations takes place on August 1st.
As a student, you have free access to 100 Mbps internet without any fixed fees for IP telephony. These services are provided by AllTele in collaboration with Skellefteå Kraft. Naturally, there are no startup costs or other charges to get started. On campus and in the city center, you can also use wireless connectivity at no cost.
For the comfort of allergy sufferers and general well-being, all premises are smoke-free and pet-free (including cats and dogs).
All residents in the student corridor share responsibility for cleaning common areas such as corridors, kitchens, communal rooms, and facilities like the laundry room and sauna.
Additionally, it’s essential to show consideration and maintain a low noise level during evenings and nights, as well as take care of your room in a healthy manner.
When moving out, ensure thorough cleaning of the room. If the room isn’t adequately cleaned, a cleaning fee will be charged. Don’t forget to empty your apartment/room and any storage space you might have.

Housing guarantee
Skellefteå Municipality offers a unique housing guarantee for students, with Skebo contributing by providing student accommodations. This guarantee applies to students who have been admitted to any of the universities at Campus Skellefteå or other post-secondary education institutions (such as vocational colleges) with a duration of at least 18 weeks.
During the start of the course, provisional solutions may be considered.
Rental to students outside the regular housing guarantee, such as those in work-integrated learning (VFU students), doctoral candidates, and adult education students (VUX students), may be possible in certain cases if the available stock exceeds approximately 10 percent.
